Fashion and portrait photographer Terry Richardson, who has worked with stars like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga and has photographed Barack Obama, has been blacklisted after being accused of sexual harassment.

Multiple women, including models Jamie Peck, Emma Appleton, and Rie Rasmussen, have spoken out about working with him. In an interview with Page Six,  Rasmussen said, “He takes girls who are young, manipulates them to take their clothes off and takes pictures of them they will be ashamed of… they are too afraid to say no because their agency booked them on the job and are too young to stand up for themselves.”

Richardson has consistently denied the accusations of sexual harassment, and said that he has never mistreated any of the models he has worked with. After news coverage of the allegations, Richardson’s representative stated to the Daily Beast, “Terry is disappointed to hear about this email especially because he has previously addressed these old stories. He is an artist who has been known for his sexually explicit work so many of his professional interactions with subjects were sexual and explicit in nature but all of the subjects of his work participated consensually.”

With the recent Harvey Weinstein scandal, more and more stories of sexual harassment are being heard.  Kaitlyn Maglaque (9) thinks it might be because of a shift in society’s perceptions of sexual harassment. Maglaque stated, “People realized that it’s okay to speak out about sexual harassment and that it’s something to stop, so they’re spreading awareness.”

This kind of attention has already had an impact on Richardson’s career. Condé Nast, publisher of Vogue, Vanity Fair, and GQ, stated in an email that they will be not working with him in the future. According to The Telegraph, the email read: “Any shoots that have been commission[ed] or any shoots that have been completed but not yet published, should be killed and substituted with other material.”

In light of the recent scandals, Drishti Tyagi (9) said, “Unless people start talking about it more, and people consider it an actual issue more, then nothing is really going to happen.” As for what will happen to Richardson, the future is uncertain.
