The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Hollywood theme park officially opened to muggles around the globe on Thursday, April 7th, 2016.

“A Harry Potter themed area is a great addition to the theme park and a very smart business move,” said Alexis Sgobbo (9), “fans of the movie franchise as well as people who haven’t seen the movies or read the books would definitely be attracted to the idea.”

Rumors about the attraction at a Universal Studios or Disney theme park arouse in 2003. However, the rights to the franchise were previously acquired by  Warner Bros., who shut down all rumors immediately.

The rumors were not confirmed until May 31st, 2007 when a partnership was made between Universal and Warner Bros. and the announcement was made that construction of the first Harry Potter themed area would begin at Universal Studios Orlando.

Following the opening in Orlando was the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida, Japan, and finally Hollywood.

“I was elated when I heard a Harry Potter themed area was opening,” said Kayla Cannon (11), “I’ve heard it’s exactly how it was described in the books and shown in the movies. I’m going to go as soon as I get the chance.”

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood features the rides Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff, shops such as Ollivander’s, Honeydukes, and Zonko’s, and serves the beloved Butter Beer.

Guests will also be able to explore the village of Hogsmeade and will be given a tour of Hogwarts, visiting sights such as Professor Dumbledore’s office, the Gryffindor common room, and more.

“I was honestly amazed when I was walking through Hogwarts,” said Robby Tinti (11),  “The detail on everything was so exact, it felt like I was actually in the books or walking through the movie set.”

Make sure to save money for the new attraction because it is taking the hearts of many beloved fans.
