On Monday, January 15 at 12:47 a.m., Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had their third child via surrogate, delivered by Paul Crane at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She weighed seven pounds and six ounces upon birth.

West was said to be in the delivery room, however he stood behind a curtain until he was able to hold the baby.

Kim and Kanye had a surrogate for their third child because Kim has a condition called placenta accreta––when the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall. She was also diagnosed with preeclampsia, a condition of high blood pressure in pregnant women.

Adrian Rodriguez (10) said, “I’m honestly really happy that there is an option to have a surrogate, not only for them but also for people who are going through a similar situation.”

Kim posted about the birth on her website saying, “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.”

Lourdes Vasquez (11) gives her opinion on Kim using a surrogate. She said, “The medical advancements that can make this happen amaze me so much. I think Kim using a surrogate was the best option for her and the baby. Health and happiness is first.”

The new baby girl will now join the West kin to create a family of five including her older sister North West, who is four years old and her older brother Saint West, who is two years old. Kim stated, “North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”

They have not yet revealed the name, nor released any photos of the baby girl.
