On Thanksgiving, the internet was surprised by a minute and a half trailer dropped by Disney for the new live-action The Lion King movie.

This Lion King is the retelling of the cartoon sharing the same name that was released in 1994. Donald Glover and Beyoncé play the lion couple Simba and Nala, while Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen play the duo, Timon and Pumba.

James Earl Jones brings an exciting feature to the cast as he reprises the role of Mufasa.

Nick Geltz (10) a fan of Jones and the original Lion King, stated “ I am really excited for the new Lion King movie. I saw the trailer and saw that James Earl Jones was in it… so it is going to be a good time to see him voicing Mufasa again.”

Similar to Geltz’s opinions, it seems many of people are happy about Mufasa being played by Jones once again. Even Jon Favreau, the director of the film took to Twitter saying, “I can’t wait to work with this legend #Mufasa.”

Much like the 2016 live action adaptation of The Jungle Book, Lion King uses similar special effects to bring its characters to life.

Daylen Almaraz(11), a fan of film, said, “I feel like although CGI (Computer Generated Images) has come a long way since Jurassic Park,…  [it] does not even come close to the animation of the original.”

In the end, The Lion King is expected to cost around 117 million dollars to make, much like The Jungle Book in 2016. With the amount of excitement, they already anticipate a large profit from the box office on opening weekend in July 2019.
