Veep actress Julia Louis Dreyfus announced she has breast cancer on Thursday, September 28—only two weeks after her record-breaking award-winning. She announced the tragic news via Twitter and Instagram, saying, “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one.”

Since then, she has had incredible amounts of support from her friends, family, and fans. Many celebrities have tweeted Dreyfus sending her love, like her costar on veep Tony Hale. He tweeted, “We love this woman.”

She was diagnosed the day after the Emmys, where Veep won her Outstanding Lead Actress for the sixth consecutive time. Alexis Martinez (10), who watched the Emmys, said, “I love Julia and when I was watching the Emmys I felt really proud that she won and broke a record, especially since Veep is one of my favorite shows.”

In an emailed statement, HBO commented, “Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time, we have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep.”

Dreyfus and her son Henry Hall said that they feel extremely grateful for all the support that fellow celebrities and fans are giving them.

Ludmila Zumpano (12), who is a Veep and Dreyfus fan, said, “As soon as I saw the picture in Instagram I commented wishing all the best to her and to her family, and even though they might not see it still felt good to give support to someone that needs it.”

Though she has not disclosed more information about the stage or the severity of the cancer, Dreyfus also used her circumstance to voice her opinion on universal health care: “The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”
