In the span of two months, Marvel released two more films that has made theaters all over America to be packed with comic-fans. On April 4th 2014, the second film of the Captain America comics was released. Since The Avengers, Captain America has not been featured in any new film, but with the recent release, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the underestimated superhero showed viewers another side of the whole-hearted protagonist Steve Rogers.

Captain America gained success worldwide with an astounding $600 million. So far, the continuation succeeded all other films of 2014. This time, Captain America is confronted with new struggles and even an old friend from the past. In the previous Avengers movie, Captain America was set to be a bit lost because of his recent defrosting and transition from the 1940s to the 2000s. Played by Hollywood hunk, Chris Evans, Captain America also takes a positive shift into his redesigned suit.

After The Avengers film, directors believed that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow character should fight alongside Captain America in the recent release. With characters using martial arts skills, the film has multiplied it’s suspense and action scenes. Throughout the film, there is a non-stop battle between S.H.I.E.L.D. and those the criminal fighters can trust. Meanwhile, Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, faces his own personal struggles. By far one of the most shocking reveals of the two hour film was Marvel’s new villain, The Winter Soldier, who is portrayed by Sebastian Stan. The Winter Soldier character represents the struggle Captain America must overcome between the past and present.

Captain America left Marvel fanatics counting down for the premiere of the next film. Christina Cucho (11) commented, “I believe it’s one of the best films Marvel has made in a while. The way they introduced Bucky, The Winter Soldier, into the movie was epic, but the last two scenes were such teasers.” However, some critics may have not been as enthusiastic about the outcome. ReelViews website stated, “This film is unlikely to convert a non-Captain America lover into a fanatic.”

Ultimately, the progressing sequel has reached top charts with various audiences and several have described it as complex, compelling, and showcasing awesome action features. The Guardian Victory even pointed out that there are “similarities between Captain America and Star Wars.” Although Captain America may not be one of Marvel’s best-known superheroes, this film makes him stand out right next to Captain America’s future theatre competitor, Spider-Man.
