The second quarter has started and girls’ water polo has begun. On Wednesday, December 2nd, the West High Water Polo team played against Torrance High at the Plunge.
Torrance High beat JV by 5-0 and varsity by 7-1. However, Tess Mckelvey (11) feels that this experience will only shape them into a better team. The team constantly practices sprinting and drills, but because of the budget cuts, it is “hard to get pool time, especially since they “have to share with Torrance [High],” Mckelvey says Mckelvey especially felt proud of the team since people find Torrance High, a CIF champion, to be a tough adversary. Though the team lost, it is in high spirits for upcoming games; Mckelvey shares that West High “may win a game against Redondo or Culver City” because of such improvement.
